Regional NWT CIMP project summaries

NWT CIMP projects throughout the Northwest Territories (NWT) address key regional cumulative impact questions of regulators, governments and communities.

North and South Slave Regions

In 2017/18, NWT CIMP provided $404,000 to support 13 projects in the North and South Slave regions. Approximately 30% ($120,000) of this funding was provided directly to regional and community organizations. This year (2018-2019),12 projects will be supported in the regions.

Sahtu Region

In 2017-2018, NWT CIMP provided $336,000 to support 10 projects in the Sahtú Region.
Approximately 30% ($92,000) of the funding was distributed directly to regional,
community and co-management organizations. This year (2018-2019), eight projects
will be supported in the region.

Inuvialuit Settlement Area

In 2017-2018, NWT CIMP provided support for four projects that included work in the
Inuvialuit Settlement Region. This year (2018-2019), NWT CIMP is supporting four
projects in the region; three continuing projects and one new project.

Gwich'in Region

In 2017-2018, NWT CIMP provided $232,000 to support eight projects that involved
work in the Gwich’in Settlement Area. This year (2018-2019), seven projects will be
supported in the region.

Wekèezhìi Settlement Area

In 2017-2018, NWT CIMP provided $395,000 to support 13 projects that involved work
in the Wek’èezhìı region. Approximately 38% ($131,000) of this funding was provided
directly to regional and community organizations. A number of these projects have been completed. This year (2018-2019), four projects are highlighted in the region.

Dehcho Region

In 2017-2018, NWT CIMP provided $385,000 to support 14 projects that involved work
in the Dehcho region. Approximately 56% ($215,000) of this funding was provided
to regional and community organizations. Several of these research projects have been
completed. This year (2018-2019), four projects are highlighted in the region.
