The departmental Library is a specialized technical library for the staff of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR).
It serves ENR staff located throughout the Northwest Territories. The main collection is located in Yellowknife, with subsidiary collections
located in Inuvik and Hay River.

The library collection contains approximately 22,000 titles covering the subjects for
which the Department has responsibility, including: the protection and management of the environment, renewable and non-renewable
resource management, and the development of economic opportunities. Emphasis is placed on the collection of northern information. The
Library also subscribes to more than 100 journals.

A non-circulating reference collection is located in Yellowknife. It includes such materials as: Federal and Territorial legislation,
almanacs, directories, atlases and dictionaries.
Housed in a separate room within the Library is a collection of approximately 350 videos, which may be viewed on site or signed out.
Equipment available for loan to Departmental staff includes: slide projectors, an overhead projector, a small television with a built-in
VCR, a television and VCR on a cart, and a projection screen. A microfiche reader/printer is also available for use.
