Wildland Fire Management
Wildfire management decisions are made in accordance with the Forest Fire Management Policy and the Forest Protection Act of the NWT. Environment and Natural Resources manages wildfires within the guidelines of these documents and through prevention, preparedness and forest fire response.
The use of the best science, technology and effective use of available fire management resources provides for the protection of people, property, and other values at risk. Developing an increased capacity of individuals, communities, industry and others to take responsibility for reducing fire hazards and wildfires is a priority.
