Responsibilities of members of the NWT Wildlife Care Committee (NWT-WCC)

Members are responsible for reviewing the proposed animal handling procedures for all research in the NWT that involves the handling of wild vertebrates other than fish. Further details are available in Terms of Reference for the NWT-WCC.

The NWT-WCC wildlife veterinarian, employed by the Government of the NWT, should be available for consultation or participation in projects involving immobilization or activities that pose potential animal health concerns, such as translocation of animals or medical or surgical procedures.

In situations where relevant expertise is lacking in the NWT-WCC, members should seek appropriate advice from independent experts who can provide an understanding of the nature and impact of the proposed field investigation or captive situations.
