CCAC Categories of Invasiveness
Category A: Experiments on most invertebrates or on live isolates.
Category B: Experiments that cause little or no stress or discomfort.
Category C: Experiments that cause minor stress or pain of short duration.
Category D: Experiments that cause moderate to severe distress and discomfort.
Category E: Experiments that cause severe pain near, at or above the pain tolerance threshold of conscious, un-anaesthetized animals.
