Welcome to the NWT Biodiversity Action Plan

The Action Plan includes:

A NWT Biodiversity Team: Any group, organization, or individual can participate in biodiversity action planning. The Team is always open and new members can participate according to their capacity and interests.

The first report on biodiversity, released in 2004, lists current activities related to biodiversity in the NWT. The Matrix: a searchable list of NWT-based activities and initiatives related to biodiversity. The matrix can be used to quickly find and compare our biodiversity commitments to what is already being accomplished and to proposed priorities for the future.

The  Report 2: Gap and Overlap Analysis and Recommendations for Future Actions, released in 2006, looks at gaps in biodiversity actions in the NWT, am makes recommentaitons for future actions to increase efficicies, faciliate coorperation, and reduce ovelaps.

An updated gap and overlay analysis with recommended future actions is targeted for 2016.

The NWT State of the Environment report, released in 2009, is updated regularily. It assesses the status and trends of environmental indicators, including of biodiversity.  The insights from the State of the Environment Report will be used to review the NWT Biodiversity Action Plan by tracking the effectiveness of our actions on the Land, and helping to revise and plan future actions.

Find more on biodiversity in the NWT and elsewhere in the Companion to the NWT Biodiversity Action Plan and find all background material in an Archive.

Together these make up the NWT Biodiversity Action Plan.
